Leading automotive digital solutions agency now supports dealer websites by managing millions of visitors per month with a modernized cloud infrastructure

DEP experienced rapid growth and needed to scale its infrastructure to support its growing customer base of thousands of retailers across North America and parts of Europe. DEP's expansion through partnerships with vehicle original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) highlighted the need for a more robust infrastructure solution.

"When we partner with an OEM, it can mean adding hundreds of sites at once, so we need to be able to grow quickly to enable rapid deployment and efficiently scale resources while managing large amounts of data and high traffic that are essential to operations."
Rackspace recommended a collaborative approach to build a comprehensive cloud solution on Google Cloud, with Rackspace's Elastic Engineering team providing guidance and support as DEP set up the initial environment.
Together, the teams developed a production-ready Google Cloud architecture, implemented Infrastructure as Code (IaC) hosted on GitHub, and set up a deployment pipeline using GitHub Actions. The new solution leverages several Google Cloud services, including Managed Instance Groups (MIGs) for flexible and scalable compute workloads. MIGs provide high availability through automatic VM repair, application-based automatic remediation, scalability to meet changing requirements, and support for automatic updates and stateful workloads.
In addition, the Google solution includes:
- Filestore for powerful file storage
- Memorystore for in-memory data storage
- Cloud SQL for managed relational databases
- Cloud Load Balancing for traffic distribution
The Rackspace team also helped DEP modernize their image creation process, helping them achieve greater automation and efficiency. This increased efficiency enables them to get new sites up and running quickly.
Dealer eProcess' migration from a private cloud to Google Cloud with support from Rackspace provided the flexibility and scalability needed to transform operations and capabilities. The new infrastructure enables DEP to rapidly provision instances, enabling the company to respond quickly to changes in demand, provision resources efficiently, and scale its services to handle traffic spikes and growth.
The improved ability to quickly serve new customers supports DEP's growth strategy and maximizes the impact of its cloud solution. The scalability of the Google Cloud solution enabled DEP to handle huge volumes of data and traffic. DEP plans to continue its partnership with Rackspace Technology to drive further innovation and growth.
