Carpenter's Shutout Leads Jackets Past Blazers

JACKSON, Miss. – Tack on another victory!



Goalkeeper Jack Carpenter notched the first shutout of his career, propelling LeTourneau men's soccer to a 1-0 victory over Belhaven at the Belhaven Bowl Stadium.



This win marks the first ever for the Jackets at

Belhaven, giving them a 2-0 advantage over Belhaven in its last two meetings.



LETU stung the Blazers early when Syed Zain blasted one to the back of net from Santi De La Torre just four minutes into the contest. Belhaven's Brady Jacobs had a chance to tie the contest at the 51st minute mark, but a stingy Carpenter rejected the shot for one of his seven saves.



The YellowJackets improve to 5-6 overall, 2-3 in the American Southwest Conference. The Blazers fall to 4-4-1, 2-2 ASC.


 
Inside the Box:
Belhaven outshot LeTourneau 15-9, including a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal.
LETU collected seven saves, while the Blazers had four.


Belhaven committed 11 fouls with one red card and one yellow card. The YellowJackets had 15 fouls with one yellow card.


Zain captures third goal on the season and now leads the team in the category.
De La Torre racks up his third assists on the season.


Emad Mohamed had two shots on goal, while De La Torre and Russel Gray both had one.
