Tropical Storm Nicholas update (English & Espanol)

The City of Galveston continues to track Tropical Storm Nicholas, which will make landfall tonight between Corpus Christi and Matagorda Bay as a strong Tropical Storm or possible Category 1 hurricane.

The National Weather Service predicts 8 to 16

inches over rainfall over the next two days, with the heaviest rain bands coming through tonight and tomorrow morning. A 2-3 inches per hour rate of rain could cause flash flooding in the area, with low-lying areas along the bay and the West End being particularly vulnerable to flooding.

Be sure to secure any loose items at your home or business, and avoid driving through standing water. We expect the worst of Tropical Storm Nicholas to arrive tonight, but stay weather aware and tuned to local weather reports for changes in the forecast.
